FAQ
What brands of hair products do you use?
We have many products we use and an array of product lines. Our kits are primarily filled with Maria Nila, Amika, Kenra, Oribe, Kevin Murphy, as well as organic brands Sukesha and All-Nutrient. We care about you and our environment so all products are paraben-free, and not tested on animals. Most of the products we use are also vegan and gluten-free.
What brands of makeup and skin care products do you use?
We use many different makeup product lines, one of which includes our own clean and cruelty-free lip color line - Caroline Cosmetics. Other product lines that make up our kit are Honeybee Gardens (organic), Limelife by Alacone (organic, vegan, and gluten-free), Graftobian, Viseart, Temptu, Kett, Inglot, It Cosmetics, Kryolan, Tarte, and Urban Decay. We have found that these cosmetics are hypoallergenic, really stand up to humidity, tears and above all, they are photo-friendly. We care about you and our environment so all products are paraben-free, and not tested on animals. Most of the products we use are also vegan and gluten-free. We have an allergy guide here.
What is your sanitization process?
The health and safety of our team members, brides, and their families are of utmost concern so we have implemented higher than ever safety measures for hair and makeup applications. We already follow the sanitation procedures set forth by the State Board of Cosmetology, but we take it a step further to ensure there is no risk of transmitting a virus or bacteria through makeup or brushes. We bring enough sets of makeup brushes for each makeup application scheduled, and use a new set for each application. We don’t clean any brushes on-site, instead we bring them home and deep clean them with a brush soap, then soaked in 70%-90% alcohol, and the brushes are not used again for at least 24 hours. This ensures every bristle has been treated. We also use a lot of disposable applicators. Most powder makeup has been converted to loose powders. All pressed powder makeup is sprayed with a makeup disinfectant spray between each application and all cream/liquid makeup is removed from the container using a spatula and placed on a palette before applying on a clients face. All metal tools such as eyelash curlers and tweezers are cleaned with 70%-90% alcohol.
We follow all of the current recommendations of the CDC. All artists will wash their hands upon arrival and between each client. All artists are instructed to stay home if they have a fever and/or any signs of illness. If you would like our artists to wear a mask for your appointment, please let us know in advance, and we will gladly mask when requested.
Do you do makeup airbrushing?
Yes, we specialize in airbrush makeup and only do traditional foundation upon special request. Airbrush foundation is thinner than regular foundation. The fine mist spray of airbrush makeup provides a flawless coverage, evening out skins imperfections while still allowing your skin to breathe. It withstands sweat and tears better than traditional foundation. Don't worry about leaving your face on the suits of every man you hug, airbrush foundation doesn't transfer as much as traditional. Airbrush is a layering technique, if you have freckles or just want a light coverage, we do a thin layer of airbrush. If you have problem skin or prefer a heavier coverage, we will apply more layers of the foundation.
Where are consultations and trials done?
Consultations we usually hold over Zoom. It’s a very convenient way for the busy bride to meet us and discuss her ideas without the commute. Our trials are done at our studio in Yardley, PA. Trials typically take place during the week due to our busy weekend wedding schedule, but if a weekday is not possible for your schedule, we will work with you to schedule you during the weekend.
How large of a party can you service for hair and makeup?
We can handle parties of any size. For very large parties we bring additional artists. Our artists are very experienced and have all been trained by Nancy.
Is there sales tax added to my total?
Luckily, since we are based out of Yardley, PA, there is no sales tax on hair and makeup services. In the state of Pennsylvania, there is no sales tax on hair and makeup services except for Philadelphia and Allegheny County. Even if your wedding is taking place in one of those counties, you are not subject to the tax since our business is established in a different county.
Do you stay for touch-ups after the ceremony?
If you would like us to stay for touch-ups we are happy to do so. We will make sure your hair and makeup remain perfect through all of mother natures elements. We will also take out your veil and even change your style if you want. This time needs to be reserved in advance. An additional fee does apply. The pricing for this may be found under “Extended Beauty” on our Pricing and Booking Guide. The hourly rate begins at the time you need to have hair and makeup services completed for getting dressed and photos.
Can you come back for touch-ups instead of staying?
Since our artists don’t have time to take other clients if they leave and come back, our hourly rate begins once the last person from your party is completed for getting dressed/photos. Included in the rate: touch-ups and/or look changes for anyone in the bridal party, with most of our attention on the bride. Travel to other locations within 30 miles is also included. Not included are any additional parking fees.
How do I secure my wedding date with Nancy Caroline Beauty?
In order to reserve your wedding with us, a signed contract and retainer are required. Please email us to request a questionnaire so we can gather all the information needed for your contract. Once that is completed, a contract will be emailed to you and you can securely pay your retainer at the end of the contract.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, Venmo preferred and all major credit cards. Your hair and makeup preview is paid in full at the time of booking with our associates, and cash only for trials/previews with Nancy. Your wedding retainer is paid by credit card only. WE DO NOT ACCEPT ANY PERSONAL CHECKS FOR ANY SERVICE.
Are you LGBTQ+ friendly?
Of course! We service all weddings, love is love!
Do you recommend a lash lift to enhance my lashes for my wedding?
Unfortunately no. We’ve seen too many over-processed lashes, lashes that are lifted too high that they lay flat on the eyelid, and even lashes fall out after the process. Often when a bride has a lash lift, we’re not able to apply false lashes because the lashes are too close to the eyelid, not allowing room to apply a false lash.
We curl all lashes and individual false lashes are included with every makeup application. We will make sure your lashes look perfect on your wedding day.
What is your minimum, and what exactly does that mean?
Since our artists only work one wedding per day, so our complete focus and attention is on you, we implement a minimum amount of services for wedding bookings. Our minimum varies based on the artist(s) requested. It’s best to look at our Booking and Pricing Guide for the correct Minimum for your wedding.
The total of Wedding Day Services must be equal to or greater than the Minimum.
If your total in services is less than the Minimum, the Minimum amount will be due. If your total amount of services is greater than the minimum, the total calculation of services will be due.
Do you offer a military discount?
We are very grateful for all of those who serve in our nations military. While we don’t offer a standard discount, we do, however, have a Force Majeure clause in our contract, which protects you and your fiance if one of you is called to active duty and your wedding needs to be postponed.
What does the Change of Location Fee (In Hotel) or (Outside of Hotel) entail?
This additional charge is only if you require the same artists doing your hair and makeup to go to another room or other location. We implement this fee due to the amount of time it takes our artists to set up and breakdown at each location, which adds significant time to the schedule. If your party needs to be completed in two separate locations, to avoid this fee, we can send two teams of artists, one team for each location, as long as each location reaches our minimum. We do not charge this fee if we are doing groom services in the same hotel/venue since we don't need our full kit for that.
Am I required to purchase Touch-up Kits and Makeup Brushes?
No, these are optional upgrades. A touch-up kit is included for the Bride, but you have the option to purchase additional touch-up kits for your party members. Brides who book Nancy as their lead makeup artist, will also receive a new set of makeup brushes on their wedding day. You also have the option to purchase makeup brushes for everyone in your party.
What is EXTENDED BEAUTY? Do I need to add on this service?
This is an optional service to have one of our artists stay after everyone is completed, and do touch-ups as needed. Our hair and makeup styles are built to last through heat, sweat and tears, this is just extra insurance. Included in the extended beauty hourly rate is any hair and/or makeup changes, such as changing your hairstyle before your reception. Hourly rate begins once the last person from your party is completed for getting dressed and photos.
What are the next steps in the booking process?
If you're ready to reserve your wedding date with us, please email us to request a questionnaire. The questionnaire gathers the information needed for your contract. Once that is received, we will send you a digital quote, contract and invoice. If you have any questions about the quote, please reach out before accepting it. Once you accept the quote, it takes you to the contract, once that is completed, it takes you to your initial invoice, which 25% of requested services is due to reserve your wedding date. Your wedding date is not reserved until all 3 have been received.
Your Wedding Packages don’t include all the services I need for my wedding. Can I request a custom quote?
Of course. We’ll send you a questionnaire and send you a custom quote based on the services needed. We are not able to reduce our minimum package though.
Can I add services after I signed my contract? Do you have a la carte pricing?
Yes! If you look at the Service Descriptions on our Pricing and Booking guide, you will see our a la carte pricing. The only thing that is missing from that is the possible fee for additional artists travel. If increasing your total wedding day services requires us to bring more artists, their travel fee will also be added to the total. We ask for your final details 2 months before your wedding, which you can add additional services to. Our final details form can be accessed here - http://nancycaroline.com/finaldetails
What if I don’t know what time services need to be completed by when I fill out my questionnaire for a contract?
A guesstimate is just fine. You can update your timing once your complete your final details form.
