Bridal Beauty Countdown

Your ultimate guide to achieving flawless wedding day hair and makeup, with everything you need to prepare for your special day.

Bridal Beauty Prep Tips, starting one year before your Wedding

    • Start a New Skincare Routine – Find a trusted esthetician and begin regular facials. Follow their advice on daily skincare products tailored to your skin’s needs.

    • Grow Out Your Hair – If you’re planning an updo for your wedding day, start growing out your hair now for the best styling options.

    • Avoid Coconut Oil! – If you’re not already using it, don’t start now! Despite its popularity in DIY treatments, coconut oil is comedogenic, meaning it clogs pores and can lead to breakouts and inflammation. Stick to esthetician-approved products for healthy, glowing skin.

  • Bridal Beauty Prep: What to Start Now

    • Brows – Find a trusted professional to shape and maintain your brows for the perfect wedding-day look.

    • Waxing/Threading/Dermaplaning – If you haven’t already, start removing facial hair through waxing, threading, or dermaplaning. This is essential for smooth airbrush makeup, as any peach fuzz or hair above the lip will be more noticeable. We highly recommend dermaplaning before your wedding!

    • Hair Color – Thinking about changing your hair color? Do it now! This gives you time to adjust or correct it without risking damage right before the big day.

    • Lash Extensions – If you're considering lash extensions, test them out now. This way, you can see if you like them, remove them if needed, and allow your lashes to recover before getting a fresh set the week before your wedding.

    • Tan Lines – Always wear sunscreen and reapply regularly. If you’re in the sun, make sure any tan lines will be hidden by your wedding dress to avoid unwanted strap marks.

  • Bridal Beauty Prep: Final Touches

    • Trials – Schedule your hair and makeup trial to perfect your wedding-day look.

    • Tanning – Try airbrush or spray tanning in advance. Track how many days it takes for your color to look its best, so you’ll know the perfect timing before your wedding.

    • Teeth Whitening – If you’re planning to whiten your teeth, start researching options now and book an appointment if opting for a professional treatment.

    • Hair Extensions – If your hair isn’t as long or full as you’d like, now is the time to order extensions. You can purchase clip-in or halo extensions from me, or opt for a more permanent salon method.

  • Final Count for hair and makeup services is due.

  • Don't change your skin care routine.  If you haven't been doing facials, don't start now, it will do more harm than good.

  • Bridal Beauty Prep: Final Weeks

    • Hair Care – Get your final trim and color from your usual stylist. Remind them you’re getting married and only want a baby trim to maintain your length.

    • Facial – If you’ve been getting regular facials, schedule your last one no sooner than two weeks before the wedding to avoid any unexpected reactions.

    • Waxing – This week or next should be your final brow wax. Also, have your face waxed, threaded, or dermaplaned for a flawless airbrush makeup application. If you’re prone to breakouts from waxing, apply a small amount of Neosporin or tea tree oil mixed with your lotion to the waxed area within an hour of hair removal.

    • Pimples – If a pimple pops up, leave it alone! At most, use a warm compress and stick to your usual skincare routine. Avoid spot treatments, as they can dry out the skin, making it harder to cover with makeup. A red pimple is much easier to conceal than one that has been picked or dried out.

  • Bridal Beauty Prep: Final Days

    • Exfoliate Your Face – Makeup applies best to smooth, exfoliated skin. If you’re getting a spray tan, exfoliate beforehand but avoid exfoliating after, as it can strip the tan.

    • Dermaplaning – This is a great way to exfoliate and remove vellus hair for flawless makeup. Schedule this 2–5 days before the wedding.

    • Final Spray Tan – If you’re getting a tan, this is the time to do it!

    • Eyelash Extensions – Get a fresh set if you’re wearing lash extensions.

    • Prioritize Sleep – You may not sleep much the night before, so focus on getting quality rest two nights before the big day.

    • Dress & Veil Steaming – All steaming should be completed the day before. Avoid steaming on the wedding day, as excess humidity can affect your hair and makeup.
